AN ORDINANCE BY COUNCILMEMBERS MARY NORWOOD AND MICHAEL JULIAN BOND TO RENAME AN APPROPRIATE PARK THE "TEMI SILVER PARK"; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

BodyWHEREAS, Temi Silver ("Ms. Silver") has been involved in public relations and community service for the last forty years; and WHEREAS, Ms. Silver's primary focus has always been to build bridges within our communities and to promote Atlanta as, "a city that works"; and WHEREAS, From 1980 through 2015, as a priniciple partner in Southern Connections, Inc., Ms. Silver was responsible for the successful planning and execution of numerous special events conceived to publicize client contributions to the community and promote a positive corporate image; and WHEREAS, She has been a central figure in the promotion of innovative and far-reaching civic programs to facilitate community-wide cooperation and upgrade the quality of life in metropolitan Atlanta, where in recent years she has been active on several boards and commissions; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 2-2 requires that any ordinance or resolution naming a public park after or in honor of any person shall be placed on one agenda of the affected Neighborhood Planning Unit(s), for informational purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA, as follows: SECTION 1: That the Mayor, or his designee, is hereby authorized to rename an appropriate park to the "Temi Silver Park". SECTION 2: That the renaming of an appropriate park to the "Temi Silver Park" shall take effect upon adoption of this ordinance. SECTION 3: That the Department of Parks and Recreation is hereby dierected to update any appropriate signage, website, memoranda, etc., upon adoption of this ordinance. SECTION 4: As required by City of Atlanta Code Section 2-2, such proposed naming of a public facility shall be placed on one agenda of the affected Neighborhood Planning Unit(s), for informational purposes. SECTION 5: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby waived to the extent of any such conflict.
