A RESOLUTION BY COUNCILMEMBER ANDREA L. BOONE AUTHORIZING ATLCOUNTS 2020 CENSUS CAMPAIGN
(ATLCounts 2020) TO ACCEPT DONATIONS LESS THAN TEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($10,000.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF HOSTING EVENTS AND GENERAL
OPERATIONS TO ENSURE A COMPLETE COUNT OF CITY OF ATLANTA'S
POPULATION IN 2020; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, ATLCounts 2020 is ensuring the counting of under-served populations and hard­

to-count communities in the City of Atlanta; and

 

WHEREAS, ATLCounts 2020 is an executive department dedicated to including hard-to-count populations in the 2020 Census to ensure Atlanta is fully represented. This includes ensuring Atlanta receives full and fair representation in Congress and funding from the federal government; and

 

WHEREAS, hard-to-count communities in the City of Atlanta include homeless populations, foreign-born residents, non-English language households, people of color, and low-income households, among others; and

 

WHEREAS, ATLCounts 2020 has developed strategies to encourage and include every

Atlantan's participation in the 2020 Census; and

 

WHEREAS, ATLCounts 2020 has begun hosting a series of Meeting, Events, Gatherings, and Block Parties throughout the City leading up to the Census on April 1, 2020 to inform the public, and especially historically hard-to-count populations, about the importance of the Census and how to complete it; and

 

WHEREAS, ATLCounts 2020, on behalf of the City, would accept donations amounting to less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) to broaden the impact and create sustainable administrative services to support ATLCounts 2020 programs; and

 

WHEREAS, those donations ensure a complete count of the population of the City of Atlanta;

and

 

WHEREAS, ATLCounts 2020 is appreciative of external donations and contributions to ensure that every single individual is counted in the 2020 Census.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA, that ATLCounts 2020 is authorized to accept donations amounting to less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for programmatic events for the 2020 Census.

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City's acceptance of the donation(s) is affirmed.
