AN ORDINANCE BY COUNCILMEMBER JOYCE SHEPERD AMENDING ORDINANCE 17-0-1486 BY CLARIFYING THAT THE
FUNDS TRANSFERRED TO INVEST ATLANTA FOR THE PURPOSE OF
SUPPORTING THE WOMEN'S ENTREPRENEURSHIP INITIATIVE SHALL NOT BE TRANSFERRED UNTIL THE ONE-TIME REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION CLOSES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, in 2015, the  City of Atlanta ("City")  created the groundbreaking Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative ("WEI") to provide programming, facilities, teclmology and other shared resources for women-owned businesses to synergize entrepreneurial and job opportunities for women in Atlanta; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to City of Atlanta Ordinance 17-0-1486, that was adopted on September 5, 2017, and approved by operation of law on September 14, 2017, the City and Invest Atlanta determined that the WEI and its entrepreneurs fit logically within the administrative framework of Invest Atlanta and therefore authorized Invest Atlanta to provide administrative and operational support to WEI; and

 

WHEREAS, City of Atlanta Ordinance 17-0-1486 directed the Chief Financial Officer to transfer Two Million Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,400,000) from the City's Nondepartmental Restricted Reserves to Invest Atlanta, for the purposes of providing operational, administrative, personnel and related support to WEI; and

 

WHEREAS, City of Atlanta Ordinance 17-0-1486 provide that the funds transferred from the City's Nondepartmental Restricted Reserves to Invest Atlanta would be reimbursed from a one­ time real estate transaction; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to clarify that the City will transfer the funds to Invest Atlanta after the one-time real estate transaction closes.

 

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION 1: City Council Ordinance 17-0-1486 is hereby amended so as to replace Section 3 thereof with Section 2 below. All other Sections of Ordinance 17-0-1486 shall remain in place and intact. All capitalized terms not expressly defined herein shall have the meanings ascribed to them in Ordinance 17-0-1486.

 

SECTION 2: The funds to be transferred from the Nondepartmental Restricted Reserves shall not be transferred until the one-time real estate transaction closes.

 

SECTION 3: The all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are waived to the extent of the conflict only.
