WHEREAS, opportunities exist within the City to increase the supply of workforce housing and accommodate a larger share of the growth for the region; and

 

WHEREAS, according to the CDP, the NPU L policies encourage the development of stressed, vacant and boarded homes; and

 

WHEREAS, the underlying land use, low density residential, supports the RG-2 zoning district; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Charter, at Section 1-102(b), provides that the City shall have all powers necessary and proper to promote the safety, health, peace, and general welfare of the City and its inhabitants; and

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance is adopted pursuant to Georgia Constitution Article IX, Section II, Paragraph IV which   empowers the governing authority of each county and of each municipality to adopt plans and exercise the power of zoning; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Atlanta   finds that this rezoning in the best interest of the public health, safety, and welfare.

 

NOW   THEREFORE BE   IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF   THE CITY OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA, as follows:

 

SECTION  1.    That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Atlanta be amended, and the maps established in connection therewith   be changed so that the following   property   located at 471 English Avenue, N.W.  be changed from R-4A (Single Family Residential) to RG-2 (Community Business District); to wit:

ALL THAT TRACT or parcel of land lying in Land Lot 111, 14TH District, Fulton County, Georgia, being more particularly described by the attached legal description.

 

SECTION  2.    That the maps referred to, now on file in the Office of the Municipal   Clerk, be changed to conform with the terms of this ordinance.

 

SECTION  3.      That all ordinances   or parts of ordinances   in conflict with the terms of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
