Councilmember Alex Wan announced the FY2016 Budget Hearings will continue Tuesday, May 17, 2016, 9:00a.m., in the Council Chamber.  The Tax Millage Rate Public Hearing will also be held from 6:00p.m. - 7:00p.m., in the Council Chamber.

 

Councilmember Felicia A. Moore announced the review of Standing Committees was held at 8:45a.m. today and another meeting will be the next Committee on Council Meeting held on June 2, 2016 at 8:45a.m. Ms. Moore stated the Clerk and Director of Council evaluations are in process.  Ms. Moore also encouraged Members of Council to nominate appointees to the Elected Compensation Commission.

 

Councilmember Mary Norwood announced the Zoning Ordinance re-write assessment second round of meetings will begin on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, 7:00p.m. - 8:30p.m., Passion City Church, 515 Garson Drive, N.E., Atlanta, Ga.  30324 and Thursday, May 26, 2016, 7:00p.m. - 8:30p.m., Atlanta Metropolitan State College, 1630 Metropolitan Parkway, Atlanta, Ga.  30310. Mrs. Norwood also passed out two requests about blight in the neighborhoods. Mrs. Norwood  announced community engagement meetings in the park.

 

Councilmember Joyce Sheperd invited all Councilmembers to attend the Code Commission meeting to be held on June 02, 2016, 10:00a.m., in Committee Room #1.  A memo will be sent out about the meeting.

 

Councilmember Yolanda Adrean stated a work session will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, 11:00a.m., in Committee Room #1, discussing the Transportation Bill and 1/2 penny MARTA Tax. Mrs. Adrean announced that in Four quadrants of the City, public meetings will be held regarding two referendums on (May 25 and  May 26; June 1 and June 2).  The specific locations will be announced. Mrs. Adrean stated a work session will be held on June 01, 2016 regarding Transportation Network Companies.

 

Councilmember Ivory Lee Young, Jr. announced that District #3 will host a Jazz Festival  in Washington Park, 102 Ollie Street, May 21, 2016, 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.

 

Councilmember Cleta Winslow  acknowledged and thanked Public Works and Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell for their participation in the spring beautification project, the enhancements will take place Saturday, May 21, 2016, 9:00a.m. around the area of M. Agnes Jones Elementary School.

 

Councilmember Michael Julian Bond announced that the textile drive is still on going thru May 21, 2016 for items as part of a citywide recycling outreach program in partnership with the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), Atlanta Public Schools and Marta.  Recycling bins are located at:

Brown Middle School, 225 James P. Brawley Drive, NW; Bunche Middle School, 1925 Niskey Lake Road, SW; Harper-Archer Middle School, 3399 Collier Drive, NW; Sutton Middle School, 2875 Northside Drive, NW; Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA Station (east side of station), 1475 DeKalb Avenue and Hamilton E. Holmes MARTA Station, 70 Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, NW.  The drive will continue until June 1, 2016 at Antioch Baptist Church North, 540 Cameron M. Alexander Blvd.;

 

Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell and Councilmember Andrea Dickens presents the Neighborhood Jazz Series at West Manor Park, 3240 West Manor Circle, SW on May 22, 2016, 2p.m. - 6:00p.m.
