2.              Chairperson Dickens asked Dr. Patrice Harris with the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness to provide statistics on health disparities among African-Americans to Brother Muhammad. (Dr. Harris will be asked to include this information in her next presentation to the committee.)

1.              Councilmember Lance Bottoms asked Christopher Norman, with Fulton County/City of Atlanta Land Bank Authority, to provide her with information explaining the process for donating property (Allison Court) in her district to the Land Bank Authority.  (Councilmember Lance Bottoms' office will follow up with the status of this request.)

1.              Councilmember Young asked if the City of Atlanta requires a certain use of technology or a certain process for boarding vacant houses in the City of Atlanta.

1.              Councilmember Young asked Terri Lee, DPCD’s Deputy Commissioner, to provide more detailed information and a planning guide for the proposed tree ordinance rewrite, during their next quarterly report.

 

2.              Councilmember Bond asked Terri Lee, DPCD’s Deputy Commissioner, to provide solutions or suggestions for replacing trees in the City of Atlanta when trees have been cut down.

 

3.              Councilmember Sheperd asked Terri Lee, DPCD’s Deputy Commissioner, to consider allowing City of Atlanta residents to cut down a tree every “X” number of years.

3.              Councilmeber’s Bond and Hall committed to collaborating on legislation to create a jobs commission, which will include a clause for accountability designation.

 

4.              Councilmember Bottoms asked Amy Phuong, Commissioner DPR, and Katrina Taylor Parks, Deputy Chief of Staff, to come back to the committee with an update on building a community pool in the Ben Hill Community in District 11, to include possible locations.

 

5.              Councilmember Bottoms asked Amy Phuong, Commissioner DPW, to provide a map that shows the location of City of Atlanta Natatorium's in relation to the Centers of Hope.

 

4/26/16

1.              Councilmember Sheperd asked Michael Sterling, AWDA Director, to come back before the committee in 6 months to give an update on AWDA’s Workforce Readiness Component of the Atlanta Housing Authority’s Housing Choice Vouchers and Choice Neighborhoods Grant.

 

2.              Councilmember Sheperd asked Michael  Sterling, AWDA’s Director, to also be prepared to discuss the City of Atlatna’s policy about employee’s and GED requirements (a.k.a.General Equivalency Diploma or General Education Development).

 

6/28/16

1.              Councilmember Sheperd asked staff to get with the Department of Planning and the Office of Sustainability to schedule a worksession on the Tree Trust Fund (16-O-1353).
